What determines website cost in Brisbane?

14 September 2026 · Matt Webb

A website quote is useful when you can see what it includes. A page count alone does not tell you how much content, design, integration or testing is required. This guide explains cost drivers; it is not a published MWeb price list.

Start with the work the site must do

List the customers you need to serve, the services you offer and what happens after someone enquires. Note whether the project needs new copy, photography, branding, content migration or an editing system.

A simple information site and a site connected to booking, payments and customer records have different delivery requirements. Name each integration and decide which system owns the information.

Compare like for like

Ask each proposal to identify:

  • Pages, content and design work included.
  • Integrations, data migration and access requirements.
  • Review stages, revision allowance and acceptance checks.
  • Domain, hosting, account access, delivered files and licences.
  • Training, handover and support after launch.

A lower build fee may exclude work another proposal includes. Ask about omissions before comparing totals.

Separate project and recurring costs

Hosting, domains, software subscriptions, maintenance and content changes may be charged separately. Ask who pays each supplier, how renewals work and what happens if you stop an ongoing service. Confirm tax treatment and payment stages in the written quote.
